A little bit of this, and a little bit of that

I have made a few more cards, just very slow at creating posts.

I experimented a little more with some water colouring. It really was fun, except my watercolour paint is a real cheapy so I could not quite get the look I wanted, not sure if the quality of the water colour medium has any effect or not, but I am going to stick to that excuse.

The next card I made for a friend's daughter's first birthday.  I coloured the little elephant with copics and added some sequence and glitter to make it more girly.  I hand wrote the setiment, hehe, I did not have a sentiment that says 1st birthday, and took a chance hand writing it.  It could've looked a little better, but it wasn't totally bad.

That's it for today.  Not going to write long winded posts, who has he time to read them.

Watercolour attempt

I have seen SO much water colouring lately and I must say I really really really, like it a LOT!!! LOL! Of course this means that I had to try it. I have so many hobby things and yet I had to go buy something new. I hardly use what I have and have lately started to realise that my hobby has become buying hobby stuff. It's so sad, I really wish I had more time.

Anyhow, I bought a few tim holtzs mini distress inks... I wanted all the colours, yes, only 3 or so would not do, but I was very good and only bought 2 sets. Is it possible to be happy with what you have and not always wanting something else.

So here is my attempt at watercolouring. The image I bought 2 years ago, and finally opened the packet it came in. I coloured it with the tim holtz distress inks. Not too much work done here to mention, but it's my favourite new style, as simplle as possible.

There are so many things I could have done better, but you live and learn and hopefully next time my water colouring cards look as good as the one's I have seen.

That's it from me. Take care.

Slowly but surely

So, I did it. I made one card the whole weekend, lol! I really wanted to make two, but only managed one. I did do some colouring though, which took up the time I planned to make the other card. I guess another image to be used is never a bad thing, however, just having coloured images are never going to result in any cards, hehe.

I bought this stamp last year when Purple Onion Designs had a sale, I straight away coloured this cute little rabbit, but it's been sitting in my hobby room ever since. I have noticed lately the trend is very plain, mostly white cards. I must say I really like it, except if I keep making cards like this I will have a LOT of paper pads that are never going to get used, and I do have a lot of them.

I used copics to colour the image and my pencils for the ground. I can't seem to manage doing the ground with copics yet. I must say I am enjoying the copics a lot, and have lately tried water colouring too, not sure about that just yet. Need to practice more, lol!!

Well that's it from me. Still loving this hobby so much.

Edited....
LOL, is that a bunny, I don't think so!!!

60 and still Fabulous

I have been trying to post this post for 3 months.....! My aunt turned 60 in April, and as I had not been very good at making cards lately, I ended up giving her this one. I think it was still good, because she would look just as glamorous as these 4 in a bathing suite. I bought a few of these Art Impressions stamps in December and finally stamped and coloured some images. Fortunately I had this image just about finished when I decided to make her a card.
Anyhow, she's a lot more slender than these four ladies, but seeing they are looking so fab in their swimwear I thought she would appreciate it, she is always well dressed and so smart. As in the past, I'm still not that good with adding sentiments to my cards, hehe. But inside I did say 60 and still fabulous. Anyhow, that's it from me. Just cannot find time to make cards, it's so frustrating....

And finally

I've made two cards, lol! Better than nothing?

Decided to try those copics after all these years.  Doesn't mean I'm not using my pencils again.  I enjoyed the copics, but they do take getting used to.

This is the second card I did.   Don't look at the stain / mark on it :-(.   That's from it standing out on display waiting for its photo to be taken.

This was the first!  I had to cut out the image cause the paper was definitely not good with copics, my image bled so much.

PS: not easy doing a post on an iPad.   But that's the reason for it being short and sweet!

Not quite back, but soon

I have no idea who is still out there.... it has been more than 2 years, but I do know I am really looking forward to getting back in touch with one and all.
I am still busy renovating my house and seeing I am installing the floors myself, it is taking a lot longer than expected. However, I have bought some copics and I have been colouring some images, and I have every intension of making some cards with those images.
I will be back soon, just needed to get this blogging thing going again.
Here is a little something I have coloured with my newly acquired copics.

Love is in the air

I made this card about 3 weeks ago, and never finished it off.  It needed to be glued together and the ribbon added.  Then I got an email from my friend Jeanie, reminding me that I have not posted anything in a while. Well, one can only post a card if you have one to post, right! At least someone got me going and I finally finished this card, lol!

This image is a Penny Black stamp, which one of my fellow South African crafting buddies sent me a looong time ago.  Sharon I hope you didn't think that I gave your images away, hehehe, I will never be that silly.  Thanks again, and wish I was not so lazy so I could use them all.
I coloured the image with prismacolor pencils and blended it with sansador (gamsol). Then I cut it in a rectangle, rounded the corners with a corner rounder and distressed the edges with a paper distresser. There's some glitter on the hearts but my photos never show those little details. The doily border is a martha stewart border punch. Almost forgot!! The paper is also from the huge pile which Paula sent me! Now that I have all her paper, I wish I could make cards just as beautiful as hers....!
Of course I need to share an updated picture of Lady Ayla Belle. She LOVES the garden and is starting to climb the trees just like a little monkey. Not sure I like that idea, I prefer her safe on the ground :-) She will be 5 months next week, and she's still very tiny. The photo doesn't really make her look tiny with all that fluffy hear, and it's extra fluffy cause she had a bath on Friday, woohoo!
Have a lovely Sunday. I am very pleased I managed to fit in a Valentines card. Even if it is just one, lol!

Bon Appetite

How cheeky is this cat!? He reminds me of my little Jingle, who's not that little I'll have you know, lol! He is a big boy and I often find him laying on top of Roxy, my conure's cage. I haven't seen him lick his lips though, but I think he does when I'm not watching.

Anyhow this cat is Magnum from Ladybug Crafts Ink. He's one of the many great stamps Kerry sent me a while back which I haven't had time to use. When I looked through my images I just had to use this one as it made me think of Jingle straight away!

I coloured Magnum and his little friend with my prismacolor pencils blended it with sansador (gamsol) and cut it out with a rectangle nestie. Oh and of course I have to mention where I got my inspiration from for this card, none other than Jeanie, hehehe! And the paper is from the pack of papers that Paula sent me late last year. There was so much stuff in her little parcel, loads of paper, pencils, lots of nice goodies. Lucky me!!

That's my story for today! It was so nice to have a rain free weekend, but now my garden needs water. Never a happy balance, lol!

Happy Bees

My mom asked me for an engagement card today, which she needs for Saturday. Now if you are anything like me, then that is extreme short notice, lol. I need at least a week's notice, I am so slow when it comes to making cards, just the colouring alone could take me 2 hours or more.

I was clever though, I chose an image which did not require a lot of colouring, so it took me only a few hours this afternoon to make the card and colour the image. Wish I could always be that quick. I will never get rich making cards, that's for sure, lol.
I coloured my image with prisma pencils blended it with sansador (gamsol), and cut it with a Nestie circle die. I sponged it with a little chalk ink and layered it on a scalloped circle mat. I added lots of glamour dust to the wings and flowers and hearts, not sure it shows on the photo. The border at the bottom was done with a fiskars border punch.
Of course I had to throw in a picture of Lady Ayla Belle. I'm thinking of changing her name though to Lazy Ayla Belle, rofl! She is such a little lazy girl that sleeps all day, okay almost all day, the rest of the day she follows me around the house, aaah!
That's my post for today, I got to go wish Debbi a happy birthday, even though the day is now over.... it still counts doesn't it, woohoo.

An oldie but still good

This is another image I coloured a while back, and in fact I actually checked, it was way back in April last year. It's a good thing I have some images coloured, cause at least now I get to make some cards, I'm not getting any colouring done though :-( Soon I hope, really soon. I think my pencils have dried up, lol!

This image was another that Debbi sent me, and I have so many other gorgeous ones, so I really should be spending a lot of time colouring. It's not like I don't have time, I'm not working at the moment. If you want to see some gorgeous colouring and some gorgeous cards, do go check Debbi's blog! She was one of the very first ladies who inspired me when I started blogging, and she's super talented.

I coloured the image with my prismacolor pencils and blended it with sansador (gamsol), then cut it out with an oval nestie. The sentiment is from Ladybug Crafts Ink, Kerry was so kind to send me a whole lot of her sentiments and I finally used one! I love sentiments, never know where to put them though.
I thought I'd throw in a picture of little Lady Ayla Belle. She is just the cutest thing, and so clever. She and Jingle (my other cat) have made friends, and she loves him, but boy does he play rough with her. All she does is run and hide when he starts playing, poor little thing. She is so dainty and gentle.

That's my post for today, pretty short and sweet. We have had a few sunny days, but still plenty of rain. So I am still complaining about the weather, well at least it's not snow, woohoo.
