Where to put the 2

So I made this card, quite pleased as I go along all looks just great, but then, panic, I forgot, it's for a two year old, and they want a 2 on the card. Where on earth do I put the two!?

As you can see, it ended up on top of the image. I quite liked the card without the 2, but it was a specific request and one should try and do as per requests, else people might not want another card :-)

I had great fun making this card, and the idea of the name with the individual letters comes from my biggest inspiration of course, Paula, do check her blog.

This is one of my Elzybells stamps, which I ordered unmounted and still haven't mounted... Anyone with great advise on how to mount unmounted stamps do tell.

I coloured it with Lyras and blended with Sansador. Added some highlights with my white gel pen. Mounted the main image and the happy birthday sentiment.

Okay off to do the dogs' dinner. Have a good evening.

Danielle's 14

It's my niece's fourteenth birthday tomorrow, and it's now midnight here and I have just finished her card. Talk about last minute.

If you read my previous post you will see how I struggle and I just cannot get this stuff done any faster :-((

This image is one of the ones I got from Debbi, yes Debz I received the little package on Saturday. I was so excited when I saw this image in the pack as I immediately knew this is what I wanted for my niece. One wouldn't say that I have lots of stamps now would you....

As per usual, it seems lately, I coloured this with my Lyra's and blended with Sansador. I wonder if I will ever use my poor Tombows again, and I have so many. Maybe, when it learns to try faster!

Well I should go and get some sleep or I might just over sleep tomorrow.

Enoy!

Mouse delivery

It was a REALLY good day today. Our Lotus Notes server was upgraded successfully to R8.2!! BUT wait, the best part of today was that our Rightfax email gateway is still working. Faxes are still routing to the mail boxes, even though the experts told me that our Rightfax version is not compatible with R8 of Domino. Well I jumped for joy that it all worked out just fine.

Okay, I just had to share my joy for the day... now if I just knew how to fix my problem with my children, oops sorry, I mean dogs. I've had this Penny Black stamp for, I am pretty sure, about 4 years now. This is the first time I've ever used it. Isn't it sad (and I am sure all of you have this problem), how I don't get enough time for my favourite hobby and then when I do get time, my creative juices just won't flow.

Do any of you struggle to get a card together? Sometimes I can sit for a looooong time trying to decide on the layout. Even when I eventually do decide, it still doesn't look as good as I wanted it to.

I really love this paper. I bought it last Saturday, and it was one of the more expensive ones which I try and avoid in the shops, but I decided for once to treat myself.

I stamped the image with Stazon and coloured it with Lyras, as usual blending it with Sansador and paper stumps, or blenders as some like to call it. I have been using my Sansador lately instead of the baby oil, no particular reason... maybe cause I have it :-)

Well that's all for now. Have a good evening... what's left of it and those of you who are behind me, a good day.

Friendship

I got this friendship tag from Mar the other day, but I've had such a hectic week with my dogs, I've not had any time for blogging. Thank you Mar it's great and very kind of you. Hope you are doing better.

I am off to make some cards. So chuffed with my little friendship tag!

Have a great day all.

Not too feminine

Here was quite an interesting challenge. My aunt, yeah she does ask me for cards all the time. My best 'customer' ;-). Asked me for a card for her boss (a woman), but specifically asked for something not too girly. Isn't that an interesting challenge. It almost felt like the dreaded thought of making a card for a guy.....

Anyhow, this is what I came up with. I hope she likes it. AND I hope it is not too masculine. Oh to get the balance right!

The stamp is by PSX, the sentiment by Micia. I coloured it with my lyra pencils and blended it with sansador. I tore the main image out and then inked it and wet it, to get it to 'smudge' a bit. The background paper was first distressed then also inked and wet and then distressed some more. I must say I quite enjoy distressing - it doesn't matter if you make a mistake, it looks like it's suppose to be that way.

I have bought some thicker cotton, and used that for the sewing, and I am so much more pleased. Now it is a lot more visable. I only had one small problem, when I tried the zig zag stitch with the thicker cotton the machine jammed. Thank goodness I could undo it all, and didn't break it. It's my mom's machine and she quickly showed me how to use it before she left for her 2 month holiday in Australia... I'd hate for her to come back and discover that I've broken it.

Okay, I'm off to go and make cards for my aunt, yeah, it's her birthday on Friday, and my niece, who's having her 14th on Monday 23rd.

Nearly forgot. First I want to test my house alarm. I need to set it so it's activated all over the house except for the lounge and dining room. This is to allow my dogs to get into the house while I'm out. I don't like to lock them outside and I also don't like not to activate my alarm. I am sure you can guess which of the two I do at the moment - yip, allow the dogs in with no alarm :-)

Have a great Sunday. Till later.....

Image Swap

When I posted my stamp rack on my docrafts gallery, Nikki, asked if I would be interested in an image swap at some time. I of course said definitely.

Time went by and I thought maybe she had forgotten, but a few weeks ago she contacted me and said she needed some inspiration and thought if she did the image swap it would help.

This is what I got in the post last weekend! I was so excited. Such a gorgeous card she had made me and such precious images. I didn't want to share it here until I had sent her images to her. Which was the first thing I did this morning.

I am also doing an image swap with a fellow blogger, Debbi. Look for that soon :-)

I've been tagged - cool stuff!

Well I got tagged by Mar again, and Debbi this time too - it seems I am going to have no choice but to accept the tag. I am not crabby like some people :-)

So what do I have to do. I have to list 20 random facts about myself, and of course, pass the tag onto 5 others. Unfortunately the only people I know in the world of blogging so far, are the two lovely ladies who have already tagged me. Sadly the tag dies here... but at least you get to find out some stuff about me. Okay I know not really a fair deal.

Here goes:
  1. I absolutely love animals, more than anything in this world.
  2. I prefer animal company to humans.
  3. I'm a vegetarian.
  4. I don't kill spiders.
  5. I have never been married.
  6. I have been proposed to a few times.
  7. I have a black belt in karate.
  8. I don't have a favourite colour.
  9. I'm afraid of heights.
  10. I have an addiction to rubber stamps ;-)
  11. I hate cleaning my stamps.
  12. I speak two languages, English and Afrikaans.
  13. I went to boarding school and wanted to run away.
  14. I hate sweet potato - because of boarding school.
  15. If I make a foot print I have only 4 toes on each foot. (My baby toes don't touch the ground.)
  16. I sleep on my back with my arms in the air.... hehehe.
  17. I hate mornings.
  18. I HATE being cold.
  19. I've known my best friend for 22 years now.
  20. My favourite drink is Tequila!!!

He-ha, that was quite difficult... gosh, who would've thought it would take so much thinking. I thought I knew myself a lot better than that. (Seems there's a lot of things I hate. Who would've thought.)

That's it for today then. Sorry that I cannot continue the tag.

Good luck to the rest of you who got tagged.

Teenage girl

I have finally finished all the things I had to do today. Clean the parrot's cages, what a painful job that is, scrubbing them down.... take the recycled plastic and cans to the dump.... washing.... clean the pool.... and the list goes on. Oh, and I still have to go and play ball, the dogs are all laying here on the floor waiting, best I type fast then and stop waffling.

I made this card for my niece who is turning 14. I was so excited about the sheep, as she chose that image herself, but after colouring it in and then selecting papers to go with it, it looked like a card for a little girl, certainly not a teenager. I guess I'll be making her another card then. Still like this one though.

The stamp is by Micia, in Taiwan, it's one of a few I bought in December, and finally managed to use. I bought the Bubble folder from Cuttlebug yesterday, and of course had to use it straight away. I was really chuffed with the result.

Got to run and go play ball. I think it's still a little too hot, but will see how long Simby lasts in the heat. Oh, Simby is the one Jack Russell, the other is Misty and then there's Shado - the ever so special pavement special :-)

Undies on display

Morning all,

This card is for my other cousin, again, for her birthday. This time a girl, not a guy. I decided on these undies stamps as it is just so her. She's got this sexy gorgeous figure with long legs, and I can just see how well these would fit her.

They were supposed to be red though, at least that is what I started out with, but somehow, the red looked orange, so I tried another red and that looked pink. As you can see that's what stayed. I also highlighted it a bit with my gel pen, a red one :-) Not sure that it can be seen though.

Anyhow, hope you all like it. It is still raining here, something we are so not used to. We only know sunny skies!

I coloured this with my lyra pencils, blended with baby oil. Also used my cuttlebug birthday folder and nestabilities scalloped oval.

Life's uncertain

My aunt asked for a card for my cousin's birthday. Men, they are the worst to make cards for. This one, in fact, was actually not that hard. Somehow it just fell into place. Aren't I lucky! I have 3 more male cards to make, so let me not get excited too quickly.

The stamp is by Stampendous, and I coloured it with Lyra pencils, blended with baby oil. I must say, Stampedous always have the cutest project of the month cards, but they haven't updated it for so long..... What's happening, anyone out there know why they're not showing us new projects...?

I finally made a 'double' fold card, not sure how to refer to the way it closes. I've been wanting to try it for ages now and managed it at last. Not that it was hard, just that I never did it.

Well, that's all for now, got to rush my pasta is cooking down stairs, and the children are waiting for dinner.
